update

Sadly, I've been ill and not venturing into my garage beyond absolutely necessary times.

Maybe, I will do some postings for the fall, if the temperature ever cools off.

Sigh.

New Posting from the Garage

Well, the illness has not really passed, and the last two months have been rough. However, today, with it in the mid-40s and partly cloudy, perfect weather if you ask me, I cleaned out the garage for the first time in two years. Leaves and debris had drifted into the garage, and there were feces on things (mice for sure and maybe squirrel--hopefully not rats).

I moved around the various machines that run and the those I need to repair, placing them order of need to repair, hopefully before it gets hot (my disease flares once it hits 75 and the summer humidity increases). I also set up my gardening table, on the left, and made a great space to work on the gas-powered machines and work on my bicycles (I need to change the tubes on the bikes' tires).

Also, I took this reclaimed, from the trash, wood table and started the process or redoing it; its top has been scratched and worn, so I plan to sand it and refinish it.
I removed the leaf from either side of the top, and, later, I took the top off from the base. I'll post more pictures as I go through the process of working on the table.

Thanks for stopping by...

Illness and Absence

Hi, folks! I have not posted any entries in two months because I was caring for an ill family member for 4 weeks, after her lengthy hospital stay, and, then, became ill myself (my skin disease flared up). If all goes well, I am hoping to do more entries now because I'm feeling better. Here's a few updates, although not shots from inside the garage.

Four weeks ago, while driving from my mother's house to my house, I passed through a neighborhood that had trash day the following day. At two different locations, I scored these items.

I have already worked on the leaf blower, and it runs perfectly. I am not sure about the edger, but I am hoping that I can get it running and use it; I think that I need to replace the blade, but that is an easy fix. The engine on the edger is a 3.5 hp, but I have no idea what I might need to do to get it running because, since I scored it, I've been sick (until a few days ago).

Next, 3 weeks ago, I was driving from my mother's house to my house, going through a different neighborhood, the night before trash day, and I spotted this machine and quickly stopped:

It took a bit of work to get it into my hatchback (oh, how I miss my old Ford Ranger), but I did. It's Bolens chipper/shredder with a 5hp Tecumseh engine.

Again, I've not fiddled with it, but it's going to be one of my next projects (assuming my health remains good). I know there's going to be some repair work because there's a small gash where the heavy duty plastic "funnel" ends and meets the metal housing for the blades. I'll remove that and the sheet metal facing (in the above picture where it says "Bolens") and then see what is what. I am betting I need to replace the chipper blades and might have to ask a buddy to help with welding (I'd like to close that gash, so no debris spits out during operation). If anything, there's good parts there to use (and a nice 5 hp engine).

Well, that's all for now. If all goes well (fingers crossed), I'll do another posting later this week.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoyed seeing my latest scores.

Brief Update 5-10-14

Alas, viewers, I have been ill, for months, so I have not gone into my garage or spent time outside, around the garage. Therefore, I've not vlogged.

Well, I'm happy to report that my health is better, although not great, so I am going to do some vlog entries from inside and outside the garage. I hope that I can do one per week. Let's see what happened today:

That certainly wasn't spectacular but neither am I. The yard sure is green: we've had a lot of rain this spring, it seems, so that is the reason why. I'm going back to grading my university students' papers, but I will be sure to shoot another entry next week.

Thanks for stopping by, and please do stop by again, soon.

Update 11-2-13

See, I told you that I'd get back to vlogging from my garage:

Hopefully, my health has stabilized, for I am looking forward to puttering around the garage through the rest of fall and into the winter; sure, it's cold outside and in the garage, but I like the cold.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you stop by again soon.

Long time gone...

Hey, sorry, I've not posted in nearly 4 months, but I became ill in June and just didn't do much physical activity, sadly. I'm better now, I hope, for good. Here's what I worked on, today:

Thanks for tuning in, and please do stop by again. I'm hoping to shoot once or twice a week, if my health stabilizes.

Mumbles from 6-2-13

Howdy, folks! I have my biggest "mumble" so far, for I had a lot of scores to show y'all and was a bit in the mood to mumble. Let us see what all that fuss is about:

Wow! I'm really excited about all of that. I know all of that stuff will get a "second life" in my garage and house.

Thanks for tuning in, and please stop by the garage again.
